Eruca sativa L. (Rucola - Italian) Also called Arugula. Native to southern Europe, wild rocket has been grown as a vegetable in the Mediterranean since Roman times and was considered an aphrodisiac. Its distinct aromatic and pungent flavour is described by some as nutty. It certainly gives your tastebuds a zing! Wild rocket is rich in vitamin C and iron. Use it in pesto as a substitute to basil or to top a pizza. Great as a salad. Available year round, with a peak growing period from spring to autumn.

Apart from being organically grown, these salads are packaged using the very latest in bio-degradable materials. The pre-pack bags are made of poly lactic acid (PLA), which is derived from corn resin, a renewable resource. The material is bio-degradable, meaning it breaks down simply and quickly so does not contribute to landfill or pollution. Traditional plastic packaging can take many, many years to break-down.
